THE MAKING · L'ATELIER

Where the jewel becomes

Detail is not a stage of the work — it is the work. A single Sensuel jewel can take two to three months to complete, travelling from a first pencil line to its final breath of polish. Every hand you see is a master's.

The Drawing
Each commission begins as a gouache rendering — gemstone, proportion and movement decided before a gram of gold is cut.

The Gem Hunt
Stones are chosen one by one for character over carat — colour, lustre and life read by eye and loupe.
III
Wax & Metal
The form is carved in wax and cast in 18-karat gold, then chased and engraved by hand. Filigree is built wire by wire.
IV
The Setting
Uncut diamonds and carved gems are seated by master setters — the slowest, most exacting hours of the craft.
V
The Final Breath
Days of polishing, a last inspection under the loupe, and the jewel is signed. One of one, forever.

A connoisseur who designs by romanticism rather than reason. The De Beers National Award carried her on scholarship through London, Paris and Italy — and into the company of Nicky Oppenheimer himself.

She builds Sensuel as a couturier builds a gown — around one woman, one stone, one story.
